A FEW WORDS FOR THE WEEK BEGINNING SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 27th, 2011
THE GOOD ANNOUNCEMENT WAS ABOUT SAMMY BECERRA
By Pastor Richard
Sammy Becerra has been accepted as a participant for Operation Barnabas this summer of 2011. Get a letter of explanation from him or stop by the church office and get a copy of the letter or email whittierbrethren@gmail.com and ask for a copy to be sent to you.
The disciples came to Jesus in Matthew 17 and asked why they were so powerless in dealing with the boy that had an unclean spirit. Jesus told them it was because of their unbelief. And my observation is that failure in our lives to do what God wants us to do is because of unbelief. We must learn to trust the Lord. And I shared a few suggestions on trusting the Lord (SERMONRECAP).
I shared some special words with you in my message in Matthew 17 on February 20. The words were first shared by Hudson Taylor: “God’s work, done in God’s way, will never lack God’s supplies.” This is the exact quote.
March birthdays and anniversaries are just around the corner. Let me know if you would like to help host a MARCH BIRTHDAY BASH.
We had the memorial services for Glenda Shepard on February 22 up at Rose Hills. I want you to know that part of being the body of Christ is sometimes sitting with those who grieve (Romans 12) just like the group of you did that day. We ended up at Steak Corral (it was one of her special eateries)
Our next series will be in the New Testament book of 1 John. Our Easter season series will be the sayings of Christ from the cross.
Sal Becerra and I are wrapping up the life of Jacob and Joseph in Genesis in the Esperanza Fellowship at 9:30am on Sunday mornings. Join me.
God’s best to you,
Pastor Richard
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
I WANT ONE OF THOSE BIBLES
Glenda Shepard had obtained two Bible to hand to friends but never got them into their hands. I had those two Bibles at the funeral service and shared this fact. One man called out these words immediately after I shared the account. Then a woman called out that she wanted the second Bible.
